(Books and Reading for Intercultural Education)
is a European Comenius Network of institutions and professionals from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain and United Kingdom, working with children’s books and media.
BARFIE will help you to make the work on intercultural education through books and media more effective and pleasurable, and to combine it with an aesthetic experience.

Main objectives of the network
To promote intercultural education through children’s books and media.
To provide a creative platform for the exchange of information,discussions, dissemination and the implementation of best practice in the innovative use of literature in intercultural education.
To connect the completed and the ongoing Comenius and some non-Comenius projects, based on books for children and young people (as well as inspire new ones) and disseminate their results in order to allow the greatest possible number of schoolchildren, teachers, librarians, researchers and educators to use them.
To help disabled, minority and bilingual children, and children who are victims of violence, racism and xenophobia interact better with their various social environments.
To contribute to art education and stimulate creativity throughbooks combining well the verbal and visual medium.
To increase awareness of the cultural heritage in Europe through the multimedium of the book, aid language-learning and promote better educational use of ICT.
